How a video poker machine works
The machine simulates a standard 52-card deck (no jokers, except in dedicated variants). A random number generator (RNG) determines the shuffle order fresh for every hand, then deals you 5 cards. You choose which cards to keep and which to replace ("draw") — only once — and the machine replaces the rest from that same already-cut deck.
Unlike slot machines, there is no hidden "cycle": each hand is an independent event, exactly like real-card poker. The RTP (Return to Player) is mathematically fixed in advance by the paytable and can be calculated precisely.
