Russian Poker is a five-card casino game played against the dealer, popular across Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. What makes it unique is the range of paid options: you may exchange cards, buy a sixth card, or even form and bet a second hand from your cards.

You place an ante and receive five cards; the dealer shows one card. You then fold, place a bet of double the ante, or pay for an option: exchanging one or more cards, or buying a sixth card to improve your hand. The dealer reveals their hand — if they do not qualify with ace-king or better, the ante pays even money.
For the price of one ante you receive an extra card and keep the best five of six. It is a strong option when you hold four cards to a flush or an open-ended straight, and a losing option with a weak pair, where the extra card rarely changes the outcome.
Even played well Russian Poker keeps a house edge of roughly 3-5%, and every paid option adds variance. Unlike Texas Hold\'em, you cannot beat the game long-term with skill — the math is fixed in the casino\'s favour. Play it for entertainment, and keep skill-based bankroll in real poker games.
