    Tournament Formats in the Club

Freezeout — one buy-in, bust = out. The classic format, with relatively slow blinds and deep-stack play early.

Bounty / KO — extra cash for every player you knock out. Part of the buy-in becomes a personal bounty on your head, so eliminations pay off instantly.

Rebuy — buy more chips during the early phase (usually the first hour or two), letting you fix an early mistake without busting out.

Turbo / Hyper-Turbo — fast pace with blinds increasing every 3-5 minutes (Hyper even faster), for players who want instant action and a short tournament.

    Mon 22:00 — Bounty Special

Sample Blind Structure — Regular Freezeout

A typical Freezeout in the club starts with a 10,000-chip stack and starting blinds of 50/100. Each level runs about 12-15 minutes. For example: level 1 — 50/100, level 4 — 200/400, level 8 — 600/1,200 (with Ante), level 12 — 2,000/4,000. This pace gives players real deep-stack play early on (100BB), allowing decisions involving Position and Set Mining before the blinds "eat" the stack.

In Turbo the same structure moves roughly twice as fast — levels change every 5-6 minutes, so within about an hour you reach Push/Fold territory.

Payout Structure — How Many Get ITM

In most club tournaments about 15% of the field gets paid (ITM). For example, in a 100-entrant tournament, 15 places get paid, with a steep standard distribution: 1st place gets roughly 25%-30% of the total prize, 2nd about 16%-18%, and 15th typically gets only about 1.3-1.5× the buy-in. The practical implication: the gap between "busting on the bubble" and "winning the tournament" is huge, which is why bubble (ICM) strategy is critical for long-term success.

    Bankroll Management for Tournaments

    • 50-100 buy-in rule: For regular MTTs, hold 50 to 100 buy-ins at your stake due to high variance (you don't cash most of the time).
    • Turbo/Hyper need bigger bankrolls: Higher variance than regular Freezeout — consider 100+ buy-ins.
    • Numeric example: A player with a 2,000 ILS bankroll wanting to play 30-40 ILS buy-ins is in a safe range (50-65 buy-ins).
    • Move down after losing streaks: If bankroll drops 30%-40%, temporarily move down in stakes until it recovers.

Push/Fold Strategy and ICM in Late Stages

When your stack drops below 15BB, the decision becomes binary: Push (all-in) or Fold. Nash Push/Fold charts define exact hand ranges by remaining BBs and position. For example, from the button with 10BB, the reasonable push range is very wide (any two high cards, high card + medium card, and any pair). Below 8BB, almost any decent hand becomes a profitable push due to blinds being relatively large versus stack.

ICM (Independent Chip Model) changes this math during bubble stages and the final table — a chip you risk is worth more than a chip you might win, so calling ranges should be tighter than pushing ranges. See our full ICM guide and tournament strategy guide.
