GG Masters Guide — GGPoker Flagship Tournament

What Is GG Masters?

GG Masters is GGPoker's big weekly flagship tournament, held every Sunday evening (European time). Buy-in is $150 with a $1.25 million guarantee. Between 8,000 and 15,000 players enter each week. The first-place prize ranges between $80K and $180K. The format resembles PokerStars' Sunday Million — but with the global reach of the GGNetwork.

Tournament Structure

Starting stack of 20,000 chips, blinds beginning at 100/200 with a 25 ante, increasing every 15 minutes. Late registration is open for 4 hours (until the end of level 20). One re-entry is allowed. An ante-only structure kicks in later. The tournament runs 8-12 hours in total until it concludes. The final table usually takes place the next day as "Day 2."

How to Enter Cheaply — Satellites

The $150 buy-in is outside most players' bankroll. The solution: satellites. GGPoker runs dozens of satellites every week starting from as little as $0.50. Early Stage Strategy (Levels 1-10)

Deep stacks (100BB+), no ICM pressure. Play in "cash game mode":

• Identify weak opponents — build slow images and history
• Avoid big coolers without a good reason — there are no ICM jumps yet
• Develop a shifting image — tight then loose, loose then tight
• Wide 3-bet ranges from the button and small blind — plenty of fold equity
• C-bet less frequently on the flop — boards are too wet

Mid Stage Strategy (Levels 11-25)

Medium stacks (25-60BB), meaningful antes. Push/fold becomes relevant for short stacks:

• Steal antes at every opportunity — the starting pot is already large
• Identify players in "money pressure" mode — attack them with wide 3-bets
• Avoid flat-calling opens — either fold or 3-bet
• Preserve chips — don't slide into a shove when it's not necessary

Late Stage & Bubble Strategy

The money bubble in GG Masters usually sits around places 1,500-2,000. This is the most expensive time to make an ICM mistake:

• Big stacks — attack medium stacks relentlessly; they're the ones most afraid of busting
• Medium stacks — go hyper-tight; wait for strong pocket pairs and premium broadways
• Short stacks — pure push/fold according to Nash; no room for creativity
• After the bubble — the pot explodes as players who are already "in the money" get thrown into shoves

Final Table — The Deep Run

Reaching the GG Masters final table is a career milestone. Nine players remain, with 9th place paying roughly $8,000-$15,000. ICM is completely dominant:

• The gap between 3rd and 1st can exceed $50,000 — don't give up your chips easily
• Attack only when you have a clear stack advantage or a monster hand
• Don't give in to early deal talk — look for the best possible terms
• Watch the stream — GGPoker broadcasts on Twitch with a 30-minute delay, and there's value in opponent information
