What is Rebuy / Add-on in poker?

A Rebuy is an option in some tournaments allowing players to buy back in for an additional sum after losing all their chips, typically available only during an initial 'rebuy period.' An Add-on is a one-time chip purchase offered to all remaining players, regardless of their current stack, usually at the end of the rebuy period. Tournaments featuring rebuys and add-ons often encourage a more aggressive style of play during the early stages, as players have the safety net of repurchasing chips if they bust out. Strategic use of rebuys can allow players to take higher variance lines in pursuit of a massive stack for the later stages.
