What is All-In in poker?

Going all-in means betting every single chip a player has on the table into the pot. Once a player is all-in, they cannot make any further actions in that hand and are committed until the showdown. If an opponent bets more chips than the all-in player possesses, a 'side pot' is created for the excess, in which the all-in player cannot participate. This move often signifies extreme strength or a desperate bluff, putting maximum pressure on opponents to decide if they want to call off their stack. It's a high-stakes maneuver that can dramatically alter the course of a tournament or cash game.
