Under The Gun (UTG) is the earliest position at the table, acting immediately to the left of the Big Blind. This player must act without any information from opponents, facing the entire table still to act. Consequently, the UTG opening range must be the tightest and strongest of all positions, typically comprising premium hands to withstand the likelihood of aggression from players with better position.
