20-30 buy-ins per level
Minimum for a stable level. For high-variance formats (PLO, Short Deck) — 40-50 buy-ins.
Move up with 30 buy-ins
Before moving up — 30 BI at the new level + 100K-hand sample at the current level with a positive win-rate.
Smart shot-taking
If a shot fails — drop back down immediately. Ego is the biggest enemy of a bankroll.
Daily stop-loss
3 buy-ins lost in a day = end the session. Tilt is manufactured variance — don't gamble on emotion.
Rakeback as part of EV
At microstakes rakeback can be 30-50% of your win-rate. GGPoker's Fish Buffet + Honeymoon are a must.
Quarterly withdrawals

What's the difference between a Cash Game and a tournament?
In a Cash Game every chip equals real money — you can sit down or leave at any moment, the blinds stay fixed, and your stack is cash you can cash out immediately. In a tournament you pay one buy-in, blinds rise over time, and payouts are based on final standings.
How much money do I need to start playing cash?
You can start with $10 on Rush & Cash ($2 buy-in). Professional recommendation: at least 20-30 buy-ins per level — that's $40-$60 to start at the very lowest stakes. For serious bankroll management, see our guide.
What is rake and how does it affect me?
Rake is the fee the house takes from every pot (typically 3%-5% with a cap). At low stakes rake is the single biggest factor that prevents profit. GGPoker offers Fish Buffet + Honeymoon for new players, which return a large share of the rake as rakeback.
6-max vs full-ring — which is better?
Most professional players prefer 6-max: more hands per hour, more meaningful position, and less patience required. Full-ring (9-max) suits beginners who want to play tight and face fewer complex spots.
What is 'auto-rebuy' and why does it matter?
Auto-rebuy automatically tops up your stack to a full 100BB when you drop below a threshold. Without it you end up playing short-stack and losing EV. Always enable it with auto top-up.
